Child working to raise funds to buy gifts for the children of the shelter

The Hope Place Hut at Daytona Beach lives up to its name. Families living at the shelter hope their temporary stay will lead to a better life. During the holidays, the children also hope that Santa Claus will come. “I realized I was lucky and wanted the other kids to be lucky too,” said Leo Sanclemente. Leo is only 9 years old. He understands that not all kids have what he has and has raised thousands of dollars to buy gifts for 150 kids at Hope Place. “I think they are going to feel happy and it will make them want to share it with other people,” said Leo. Leo and a few young friends and relatives started collecting Kids 4 Kids toys last holiday season. “I was surprised at the passion he had for the project. You know, it’s very important to him,” said Leo’s mother, Chloe Howard. Howard has been with Leo every step of the way, giving a significant amount of his own money to make his dreams come true and the dreams of the children of Hope Place. They chose Hope Place because of the amazing work they do with families in need. Leo and his team want to do their part and are trying to ‘Get at least ten gifts for each child. “We have to be equal in this world and sometimes people have more of each other,” Leo said. Leo hopes to deliver the gifts to Hope Place early next week.
