Today’s Australian jobs numbers for March will be important not just for someone wanting to win an election, but for the RBA to further assess wage growth in the decision-making process on when to first rate hike.
Minutes from the RBA’s April meeting were released on Tuesday.
All Western markets are closed tomorrow and again on Monday, except for the United States. China is very open on Monday and will release its March quarter GDP result, along with monthly retail sales, industrial production and fixed asset investment.
The US will see a series of housing data next week along with the Fed Beige Book and the Philadelphia Fed Activity Index.
New Zealand will release its March quarter CPI, but the RBNZ was already up 50 basis points yesterday.
April PMI flash estimates will be provided worldwide on Friday.
Locally, the quarterly production update season is heating up, next week with the likes of BHP Group ((BHP)), Rio Tinto ((RIO)) and Santos ((STO)), as well as journalists non-resource sectors.
This four-day week will be followed by another next week and then another the week after Downunder, this year providing a long Anzac Day weekend.
