Thousands of Pratt & Whitney employees working from home permanently

EAST HARTFORD, Connecticut – Jet engine maker Pratt & Whitney said on Tuesday it plans to “improve the flexibility of local employees” and allow most of its employees to work remotely full or part time .

“Like any organization, we had to adapt quickly to a new normal,” said Chris Calio, president of Pratt & Whitney. “For our office workers, the transition to remote working in March 2020 was disruptive. But it has caused us to rethink the way we do work, giving our employees the most flexibility while preserving collaboration – and we are now carrying those benefits into the future.

According to the Hartford Courant, up to 80% or 6,600 of the 8,250 salaried employees of Pratt & Whitney in Connecticut will work from home. The company says it responds to requests from its employees about where they work and flexibility in the way they work. A hybrid model will be implemented, which means employees can come and go from the office.

While employees are working from home, Pratt & Whitney will create a new designed physical office space and launch new digital technology. TSA | SKY was selected by the manufacturer to design the office space.

It looks different because it’s different and it’s a big culture change for the company. However, this change offers a unique opportunity to redefine where work is done, how we collaborate with our colleagues and to offer flexibility to our employees.
